In response to Maryland Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 0824 (effective 10/01/2023) Specifically, section 6-411 of SB1, which reads:

“(C) A PERSON WEARING, CARRYING, OR TRANSPORTING A FIREARM MAY NOT ENTER OR TRESPASS IN THE DWELLING OF ANOTHER UNLESS THE OWNER OR THE OWNER’S AGENT HAS GIVEN EXPRESS PERMISSION, EITHER TO THE PERSON OR TO THE PUBLIC GENERALLY, TO WEAR, CARRY, OR TRANSPORT A FIREARM INSIDE THE DWELLING.”

I am requesting your assistance in providing support to your current law-abiding customer base.

Without question, Maryland is ranked among the highest in the nation regarding firearms regulations and safety. Individuals who possess a Maryland CCW Permit are required to:

• Submit to a thorough background check including live scan fingerprinting, which is run through the FBI and DOJ databases, respectively.
• Attend mandatory classroom training of at least 16hrs for the initial application and 8hrs for any renewal. 
• The required training includes mandatory live fire exercises that prove competency handling a firearm. 
• Poor accuracy will result in failure of the class.

It is highly likely that many of your existing customers currently hold concealed weapons permits. These are the same customers who have supported your business over time - before this ever became an issue in Maryland. Permit holders are more likely to continue supporting a business that they know does not oppose their constitutional right. These same permit holders will undoubtedly let fellow permit holders know whose business to support.

The above-mentioned bills effectively ban the permit holder from carrying in public and subsequently turn law abiding permit holders into criminals. It is vitally important that any supporting location have this sticker in place before the new laws go into effect on 10/01/2023.
